Professor of Physiology
Pro Vice-Chancellor (Research Partnerships)
"My role as a CSP mentor is to provide advice and support to the members of my group as they navigate their way through the Biomedicine course and consider their postgraduate options. I have been fortunate to have been closely involved with the Biomedicine degree for a number of years and this provides me with an understanding of the options to inform any required course and pathways advice.
As an active researcher, and with an admin role within Melbourne Research, I can also discuss the research opportunities available to students, both within the degree and upon completion.
Although Biomedicine is often viewed as a precursor to medicine, certainly by most of the current students, I believe it provides a strong foundation in biomedical sciences for many postgraduate destinations, including research training.
Our group has met in one of the local coffee shops and I try to keep it an informal conversation on any and all of the issues that our scholars may encounter as they transition to university life in general and Biomedicine in particular."
